Taylor Ruck reaches two finals at Pro Swim stop

BLOOMINGTON, Minnesota – Canada’s double Olympic medallist Taylor Ruck continued her preparations for this summer’s world championships, reaching two finals this weekend at a Pro Swim event.

The 18-year-old Ruck placed fourth in the 200-m backstroke in two minutes and 10.39 seconds. The Americans were 1-2-3 with Regan Smith first in 2:06.47, Isabelle Stadden second in 2:09.10 and Asia Seidt, who trailed Ruck heading into the last length, third in 2:09.99. In the same race, Mackenzie Glover of Winnipeg was sixth in 2:12.90.

In her other final, Ruck was seventh in the 100-m freestyle in 55.74. Olympic champion Simone Manuel of the U.S. was the winner in 53.65.

Kennedy Goss of Toronto was sixth in the women’s 100-m backstroke in 1:01.81 and Spencer Bougie of Pointe-Claire, Que., eighth in the men’s 50-m freestyle in 23.36.
