Victoria’s Bio

  • Poon is one of Team Canada’s veterans that took part in the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia. She swam the morning session for the 4×100-m mixed freestyle relay that went on to win bronze and set a Canadian record. She also swam in the heat for the women’s 4×100-m freestyle relay, which finished fifth.
  • In 2014 she helped Canada to bronze in the 4×100-m freestyle relay at the Commonwealth Games and fourth place at the Pan Pacific Championships. She was sixth in the 100-m freestyle at both events.
  • At the 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Poon led the Canadian women’s 4×100-m freestyle relay to a national record and a fifth-place finish
  • She returned to the Olympic stage in 2012, advancing to the 50-m freestyle semifinal and finishing 15th
  • At the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, Poon helped the women’s 4×100-m freestyle relay finish sixth. She also participated in the 4×100-m free relay, which came 11th.
  • She just missed the podium at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India, placing fourth.
  • Showed the world that she was a fighter after being diagnosed with chicken pox a few days before her first event at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
  • Missed the women’s 4×100-m freestyle relay on Day 1, but managed to recover and swim the 50-m free on the final day, a first Olympic experience she will never forget.
  • At the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, she contributed to the 4×100 free relay team’s bronze medal, and came just shy of the podium with a fourth-place finish in the 50-m freestyle
