BIOGRAPHY
Cameron Henning hit the water at an early age; he was only 4 years old when he began swimming with the Edmonton South Side Swim Club which eventually became the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club.
In 1978, Cam represented Canada at both the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games. In 1982 at the Commonwealth Games in Brisbane, Cam won a gold medal in the 200m backstroke and a silver medal in the 100m backstroke. He was ranked 5th and 6th in the world in the 200m backstroke in 1981 and 1982 consecutively. Cam set a Canadian record for the 200m backstroke at the 1983 Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union Championships.
In 1984 at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles, Cam won a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke. In addition to his medal performance at 1984 Olympic Games, Cam was also a member of the 1980 Olympic Team.
Cam was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.
