Kisil and Knelson shine in Knoxville at Pro Swim Series

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee – Yuri Kisil of Swimming Canada’s High Performance Centre – Ontario and Faith Knelson of HPC – Victoria each posted second-place finishes Saturday to conclude the first 2019 stop on the Pro Swim Series circuit.

Canadians earned 12 top-three finishes this weekend, including Penny Oleksiak’s victory in the 50-m butterfly on Friday.

In the men’s 100-m freestyle, Michael Chadwic of the U.S. was the winner in 49.17 with Kisil second in 49.59 and Joao de Lucca of Brazil third at 49.90.

Molly Hannis of the U.S. topped the women’s 50-m breaststroke in 30.69 with Knelson second in 31.02 and Annie Lazor of the U.S. third in 31.12.

Also in the top three Saturday were Emily Overholt of HPC-Vancouver third in the 200-m individual medley in 2:14.91 just ahead of Danielle Hanus of HPC-VIC fourth in 2:15.20.

Kayla Sanchez of HPC-Ontario added a third in the 100-m freestyle for her second top-three of the competition.

Oleksiak was also third in the 100 fly on Thursday and Jeremy Bagshaw of Victoria collected third-place finishes in the 800-m freestyle and 400-m freestyle on Thursday and Friday.

The other Canadian top-three finishers this weekend were Tristan Cote of Toronto second in the 400 free while third place results were posted by Mack Darragh of Oakville in the 200 fly and his HPC-ONT teammate Kierra Smith of Kelowna, B.C. in the 100-m breaststroke.
