Mike Dungate joins board of directors

OTTAWA – Swimming Canada is pleased to welcome Mike Dungate to its board of directors.

Dungate spent more than 20 years as executive director of Chicken Farmers of Canada, a national partner of Swimming Canada since 2012. He brings extensive business, human resource management and government relations expertise to the board, as well as absolute passion for Canadian sport.

Dungate, who had been serving on Swimming Canada’s Policy and Governance Committee since Oct. 2018, was elected at the organization’s annual general meeting earlier this month.

“Mike Dungate brings a wealth of business and government relations experience to the Swimming Canada Board,” said President Cheryl Gibson. “As a member of Swimming Canada’s Policy and Governance Committee over the past year, he has played a key role in the review and revision of our policies. We look forward to Mike’s contributions as a member of the board.”

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Burke-Gaffney and Michael Edgson were re-elected to the board. The full board of directors can be viewed HERE

Gibson also thanked outgoing board member Doug Bird for his service on the board.

“Doug Bird recently completed a three-year term as a member of the Swimming Canada board. He has been a contributor to swimming, not only as a board member, but as a parent, official and president of Swim Alberta. We thank Doug for his contributions to the board and for his lifelong commitment to the sport of swimming in Canada,” Gibson said.
