Noemie’s Bio

  • In her first Olympic Games, Thomas finished 18th in the 100-m butterfly.
  • She also swam in the prelims of the 4×100-m medley relay, which went on to finish 5th.
  • At the Santa Clara stop of the 2016 Arena Pro Swim Series, Thomas finished with a gold medal in the 100-m butterfly.
  • At the 2016 Canadian Olympic & Para-Swimming Trials, Thomas finished with a silver medal in the 100-m butterfly to qualify for Rio. Her time was under the former Canadian record, and just 0.03 shy of the standard set by gold medallist Penny Oleksiak.
  • At the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, Thomas swam to a silver medal in the 100-m butterfly. She also swam the third leg of the silver medal 4×100-m medley relay with Dominique Bouchard, Rachel Nicol and Chantal Van Landeghem.
  • At the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia, Thomas raced to a 15th-place finish in the 50-m butterfly, and eighth in the 100-m butterfly.
  • She helped the University of California, Berkeley win the NCAA national team title in 2015. Her teammates included American Olympic star Missy Franklin.
  • In 2014, an ankle injury disrupted her training early in the year and she fell short in her bid to make the national team. Still she won two medals that summer on the Mare Nostrum Tour in Europe then swept gold in the butterfly events at Canadian Swimming Championships.
  • At the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Hawaii she took gold in the 100-m butterfly, silver in the 4×100-m medley relay and finished fourth in the 200-m fly.
  • At the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m), she set and then beat her own Canadian record in the 50-m butterfly at the world short-course meet, finishing fourth by just 0.05 seconds in the final.
  • She capped 2013 with a seventh-place finish in the 100-m butterfly at the FINA World Championships in Barcelona. She earned Swimming Canada’s 2013 Junior Female Swimmer of the Year award for her performance.
  • She touches the outside of every airplane she flies on.
  • Would like to become a psychologist after her swimming career.
