Ilya’s Bio

• Broke the Canadian record in the 200-m butterfly twice at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships, finishing fourth
• Kharun also qualified for semifinal swims in the 100 and 50 fly. He finished ninth in the 100 with a best time of 51.22 seconds and 14^th in the 50, tying Josh Liendo’s Canadian record in the latter event twice.
• In his debut at 2022 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne, Australia, Kharun took his first individual silver in the men’s 100 butterfly and helped the team to bronze in the 4×50 mixed medley relay.
• He broke the 50 and 100-m butterfly world junior records at the 2022 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne, Australia. Both were Canadian records, as was his time in the 200 fly.
• Broke the 200 butterfly Canadian record at the Pro Swim Series in Ft. Lauderdale in March 2023.
• Was part of the 4×100 freestyle relay to break the Canadian record at the 2022 FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) in Melbourne, Australia.
• Kharun was a double medallist at the 2022 Swimming World Cup in Indianapolis taking silver in 100 butterfly and 200 butterfly.
