Sarah’s Bio

• Finished 5^th in the 400-m freestyle at the 2015 Toronto Parapan Am Games.
• At the 2015 Speedo Can Am Para-swimming Championships Mailhot showed her potential by reaching four finals.
• A back injury prevented Mailhot from reaching her competitive goals at the London Paralympics. The injury forced her to miss the 100-metre backstroke but she displayed her determination by racing in two other events, highlighted by a 13th place finish in the 400-m freestyle.
• She still lists participating in London as a career highlight, alongside her national record in the 1,500-m freestyle.
• In 2010 she competed at the IPC World Championships in Eindhoven, Netherlands and in 2011 the Pan Pacific Para-swimming Championships in Edmonton.
• Mailhot has spina bifida.
• She studied translation at Université Laval and has been working as a translator since 2013.
• She also gives conferences at elementary and high schools as part of the Team Quebec program.
• Away from the pool she enjoys reading, watching movies and dinners with friends.
