About UBC Aquatic Centre

The UBC Aquatic Centre has been home to the HPC-Vancouver since 1998. The facility is also home to the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds varsity swim team. Originally built in 1978, the Aquatic Centre was replaced in 2017 with a new state-of-the-art facility.
Annually in May, the UBC Aquatic Centre hosts the Mel Zajac/Canada Cup International Swim Meet. This competition regularly draws Aussies, Americans, Japanese and Canadian national team athletes. In recent years the Zajac has hosted Ryan Cochrane, Ryan Lochte, Elizabeth Beisel, Missy Franklin, Park Tae-hwan, Mitch Larkin, Meagen Nay, George Bovell, Dana Vollmer and Natalie Coughlin.
