Commonwealth Women Coach Internship Program – Swimming Canada

News –

Building on the success of their inaugural Commonwealth Women Coach Internship Program, Commonwealth Sport Canada (CSC) has been successful in securing funding from Sport Canada to continue the program nationally.

The selected coach and mentor would develop a learning plan which ideally would include gaining experience at a national or international event.  Partnering with Swimming Canada will be a key aspect to develop the plan for the selected coach.  Given the constraints of our current reality, the program would be flexible as many events may not be taking place this season.  The coach and mentor would also be supported through leadership development sessions designed and implemented by CSC.  Tina Hoeben, the Swimming Canada Coach for the Commonwealth Women Internship Program for the 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2020-2021 WCIP Mentor, will again act as mentor to the selected coach and will work with Swimming Canada to finalize the plans and development opportunity.

All applications are welcome.

Criteria for the application:

  • NCCP Swimming 201 or higher.
  • Coaching swimmers with National qualifiers.
  • Head Coach or aspirations to be a Head Coach

This program is open to coaches of both Para and Able-Bodied swimmers.  The application should consist of the coach’s CV and an application letter outlining how they would benefit from the opportunity, what they would bring back to their program, and the potential sharing of the experience with other female coaches both provincially and nationally.
