• At the 2024 World Aquatics Championships in Doha, Fan placed 36th in the 10-kilometre event, and 41st in the 5-kilometre.
• Fan was also a part of the 4×1500 freestyle relay that finished 10th.
• Hau-Li Fan finished ninth in the 10-km open water race at his first Olympic Games in Tokyo.
• At the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Fan placed 17th in the 10-km open water race.
• Fan qualified for a spot on the 2022 FINA World Championships team as the returning Olympian from the Tokyo 2020 Games.
• At the Gwangju 2019 FINA World Championships, Fan was a member of the mixed 5-km open water relay that finished 13^th. Individually, Fan finished 17^th in the 10-km open water race.
