Simon’s Bio

Deguire joined the High Performance Center – Québec (HPC-Que) as a sport physiologist in 2021, following Tokyo Paralympic Games. He has also been appointed as the national team lead sport physiologist in 2021, and was part of the Canadian staff at the 2022 and 2023 Para Swimming World Championships in Madeira and Manchester, respectively.

Deguire was involved on deck nearly full time during the 2022-2023 season. While continuing his role for the national team as lead sport physiologist, he acted as a coach at the 2023 Para Swimming World Championships in Manchester, where his five HPC-Q swimmers combined for four podium finishes, including two gold medals by Tess Routliffe, and a total of five personal bests.

Since the beginning of the 2023-2024 season, he is in charge of the Center in Montreal, as the primary coach. He is responsible of the periodization and training plans to lead the athletes to the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

Deguire also worked 7+ years as a sport physiologist across two professional sports leagues (NHL; Montreal Canadiens & AHL; Laval Rocket) and three individual Olympic and Paralympic high performance sports (Short Track Speed Skating, Para Swimming & Para Cycling).
