Ruslan’s Bio

  • Swam as part of the 4×100-metre freestyle relay that finished fifth at the 2023 World Aquatics Championship in Fukuoka, Japan. He was also part of the 4×100 mixed medley relay that finished sixth and men’s medley that finished seventh.
  • He swam a personal best time to lead off of the men’s 4×100 freestyle relay prelim.
  • At his first Commonwealth Games in 2022, Gaziev took home three medals including a silver in the 4×100 mixed medley relay and two bronzes in the 4×100 men’s and mixed freestyle relays. Individually, he finished 4th in the 100-m freestyle and 10th in the 200-m freestyle.
  • At the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Gaziev was a heat swimmer for the mixed 4×100-m freestyle relay that went on to capture silver. Individually, he placed 16th in the 100-m freestyle and 25th in the 200-m freestyle. He was also part of the men’s 4×100-m freestyle relay team that finished sixth, the men’s 4×100-m medley relay team that placed 11th and the men’s 4×200 freestyle relay team that placed 11th.
  • At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Gaziev swam in the preliminary heat for the men’s 4×100 freestyle that moved on to the final and finished in fourth place.
  • Gaziev saw success at the 2022 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials where he won gold in the 200-m freestyle and captured silver in the 100-m freestyle, qualifying him for the 2022 FINA World Championships and the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
  • At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Trials, Gaziev captured silver in the 100-m freestyle (personal best time) and the 200-m freestyle. His performance qualified Gaziev for his first Olympic Games.
  • At the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo, Gaziev was a member of the 4×100-m and 4×200-m freestyle relay that finished fourth and fifth.
  • At the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, Gaziev was a member of the 4×100-m freestyle relay team that finished fifth. He also swam in the prelims for the 4×100-m medley relay that finished fifth.
  • At the 2017 FINA World Junior Championships in Indianapolis, Gaziev won two gold medals in the mixed 4×100-m freestyle and 4×100 medley relay. Gaziev also finished sixth in the 50-m freestyle.
