Matthew’s Bio

  • At the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, Cabraja finished fifth in the 100-m butterfly S11 in a personal best time. He also placed seventh in the men’s 400-m freestyle S11 and ninth in the 50-m freestyle S11 and 100-m backstroke S11 (personal best).
  • At the Madeira 2022 World Para Swimming Championships, Cabraja competed in 6 individual events. He placed 6th in the 100-m butterfly S11, the 100-m breaststroke SB11, and the 100-m backstroke S11. Cabraja also placed 8th in the 400-m freestyle S11 and 11th in both the 50-m freestyle S11 and the 100-m freestyle S11.
  • At the 2018 Pan Pacific Para Swimming Championships in Cairns, Cabraja earned a silver medal in the 100-m backstroke S11. He also captured bronze in the 50-m freestyle S11 and the 200-m individual medley SM11.
  • At the London 2019 World Para Swimming Championships, Cabraja set personal best times in the 100-m freestyle S11 and in the 200-m individual medley SM11, finishing 12th in both events. Making his first career appearance at worlds, he also competed in the 50-m freestyle S11 (11th), 100-m backstroke S11 (11th) and 400-m freestyle S11 (12th).
  • Cabraja captured silver in the 100-m butterfly multi-class as well as bronze in the 50-m freestyle multi-class, 100-m freestyle multi-class and 400-m freestyle multi-class at the 2022 Bell Canadian Swimming Trials. His performances qualified him for the 2022 World Para Swimming Championships.
  • At the 2019 Canadian Swimming Trials in Toronto, Cabraja claimed a pair of multi-class medals, including silver in the 100-m freestyle and bronze in the 50-m freestyle. He also set personal best times in four events, including the 50-m freestyle, 100-m freestyle, 100-m butterfly and 100-m backstroke.
  • At the 2018 Canadian Swimming Trials, Cabraja took home bronze in the Para multi-class 50-m freestyle. His overall performance earned him a spot on the Pan Pacific Para Swimming Championships team, his first senior national team.
  • At the 2017 Canada Summer Games, Cabraja earned a silver in the 100-m backstroke.
  • Is an avid guitar player who entertains his teammates on the road.
