* Swimming Canada is dedicated to providing some of the best para swimming development infrastructure in the world. An important piece of this work is a carefully engineered program of events matched with progressive standards and a relevant scoring system to help adjudicate competition.

World Para Swimming, when setting Major Championship standards, has a very different set of constraints and goals. In our push towards the Paris 2024 Paralympics Swimming Canada has proactively reviewed our para swimming standards and noted that these two philosophies have resulted in a rare situation where some of our Domestic Standards are faster than the International Standards this season. Given our strategic goals we are not going to amend our standards this season in order to facilitate the best outcomes for our program, athletes and performances in 2024.
